HI! I'm Deacon Dan! I engage people on a holistic level - addressing the mind, body, and spirit with the Socratic method, physical fitness, and spiritual care, optimizing human performance. A good chaplain is able to discern and to address people's spiritual and existential needs, helping to cope, to heal, and to make positive changes that improve the lived experience. I have extensive interdisciplinary education and training in theology, psychology, sociology, biology, and kinesiology, which are integrated into my work with people. I utilize Spiritual AIM to assess distress and to meet the core spiritual needs for reconciliation, for meaning and direction, and for self-worth and belonging. I also utilize Heinz Kohut's Self-Psychology and Murray Bowen's Family Systems Theory in exploring the connection between people's spiritual and existential distress, their relationships, and their unmet needs and expectations. I have experience with cannabis therapeutics, non-ordinary states of consciousness, and psychedelic integration in addition to holding a Master of Divinity degree and several certifications:
